Matt Done and Billy Sharp both scored twice as Sheffield United beat a Murcia Representative XI 4-1 at La Manga.
Done, who also netted a brace against Stocksbridge Park Steels last weekend, combined with new signing John Fleck to open the scoring before pouncing on a defensive error as Chris Wilder’s side extended their lead.
Sharp, a half-time substitute, put the match beyond doubt with a penalty and although Murcia claimed a consolation, United’s new captain had earlier smashed home on the volley.
“The lads have worked hard,” Wilder told United’s official website. “And it was great to mingle with the Unitedites who came along.”
Wilder, again making wholesale changes at the interval, included Fleck and former Oxford captain Jake Wright in his starting eleven. Paul Coutts featured in the second-half after missing the visit to Bracken Moor due to illness but George Long and James Wallace were absent with minor injuries. However, goalkeeper Long and midfielder Wallace did train earlier in the day.
Meanwhile, United will hold an open training session at Bramall Lane on Saturday 30 July. Entrance to the event, which begins at 11am, is free.
