Sheffield United are still attempting to drive through a deal for Harrison McGahey despite their interest in former Peterborough defender Craig Alcock.
As The Star revealed last week, Blackpool have demanded £1 million for McGahey after the teenage centre-half elected to join Nigel Clough’s side rather than sign a new contract at Bloomfield Road.
Talks between representatives of the two clubs remain ongoing but, with United refusing to meet that valuation, the matter seems destined to go before a Professional Football Compensation Committee.
McGahey, aged 18, made three appearances for Blackpool last season after making his senior debut against Burnley in April.
Alcock, who progressed through the ranks with Yeovil Town before joining Peterborough three seasons ago, is also a free agent.
Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson recently admitted defeat in his battle to keep Alcock at London Road after confirming the defender is keen on a move to Bramall Lane.
