Sheffield United’s Redtooth Academy, which has been responsible for producing internationals such as Kyle Walker and Stephen Quinn in recent years, will hold a series of open trials later this month.

The sessions, which are designed for players in the under-9 and under-10 categories, are scheduled to take place at the Shirecliffe site during the half-term holiday.

A spokesperson said: “Some players may be offered the opportunity to register with the academy following the trial session, others may be invited to attend one of our development centres.

“However players and parents are reminded that obtaining a schoolboy contract is a huge challenge so as a priority players attending need to be realistic about the chances of success and use the opportunity to enjoy the facility and experience what that the academy offers.”

Applications, detailing name, date of birth, playing history and confirmation of no affiliation with another professional club, should be emailed to Anthony.Tunstall@sufc.co.uk before 5pm October 24 with ‘U9/10’s Open Trial’ as the subject heading.
