Sheffield United have been fined £4,000 for failing to control their officials during the Capital One Cup tie with Southampton.
Coach Chris Morgan was sent to the stands after heated exchanges with the Saints’ coaching staff following Marc McNulty’s goal, which won the tie for the Blades.
The incident led Southampton boss Ronald Koeman to refuse to shake hands with Blades counterpart Nigel Clough after the game.
He said afterwards: “I shake hands with people who have respect for me and have respect for the fourth official.
“The behaviour of Sheffield United’s bench, I never saw that [before].”
United have been warned about their future conduct.
