Nigel Clough believes Sheffield United can blow the race for automatic promotion wide open if they win their next two games, writes James Shield.
And Clough, who has agreed to help Derby County defender Shaun Barker regain full fitness following a horrific injury, insisted United possess both the calibre and character to overhaul second-placed MK Dons.
“Our aim is to take it right down to the wire,” Clough told The Star. “To try and make sure everything is still up-for-grabs on the final day.”
“Every year someone comes racing through. Look at Norwich City in the Championship who only a few weeks ago were being written-off but now are on the cusp of the top two.
“Six points from the next six. That’s what we are going to try and do or keep the unbeaten run going at least.”
United host Peterborough tonight before Fleetwood Town visit Bramall Lane this weekend.
Barker played 45 minutes of yesterday’s PDL fixture at Nottingham Forest. He spent nearly three years on the sidelines after rupturing knee ligaments.
