Sheffield United are closing in on the signature of Marc McNulty from Livingston, writes James Shield.
Nigel Clough, the League One club’s manager, has revealed an offer has been submitted for the Scottish centre-forward after he impressed during a trial spell at Bramall Lane earlier this month.
Clough said: “We hope to get Marc in. Things are progressing nicely.
“We’ve made them (Livingston) and offer but no one ever accepts your first bid do they.”
Clough has already captured one player - Stefan Scougall - from Almondvale Stadium this year. United could also be tempted to recruit another striker before the new season despite opening talks with Chris Porter.
“We looked at Marc when we were at Derby County,” Clough, previously of the Championship play-off hopefuls, added. “But we didn’t have the finances then.
“Plus, with the way Stefan has fitted in, it just makes you more confident that he can do well.”
