Jake Wright has joined Sheffield United after leaving Oxford United.

The 30-year-old, who captained Michael Appleton's side to promotion from League Two last term, becomes the sixth player to arrive at Bramall Lane since Chris Wilder's appointment as manager.

Fellow new arrivals James Wilson, Jack O'Connell, Mark Duffy and Chris Hussey featured in the squad which beat Stocksbridge Park Steels 5-0 in a pre-season friendly earlier this afternoon.

John Fleck, previously of Coventry City, attended the match but was not named on the team sheet.

Wright, who joins United on a free transfer, is expected to meet his new team mates for the first time when they begin warm-weather training in La Manga tomorrow.

A centre-half, Wrighr worked under Wilder at Halifax Town before they resurrected their partnership at the Kassam Stadium.
