More to come from Evans, says admiring Wilson

DANNY Wilson is tipping in-form striker Ched Evans to maintain his impressive form in front of goal as long as he stays clear of injuries.

The Sheffield United manager praised the Welsh international’s contribution at home to Oxford as they moved into the second round of the FA Cup.

Evans, a £3 million capture from Manchester City in 2009, struck two first-half goals and was unlucky not to claim a hat-trick.

It took a series of fine saves from U’s goalkeeper Ryan Clarke to prevent Evans from securing a treble.

His link-up with Richard Cresswell in the final third caught Wilson’s eye and the pair tormented Oxford.

Evans, aged 22, has plundered seven goals in 13 appearances and is finally starting to justify the hefty price tag United forked out for his services when they were contenders for promotion in the Championship.

“Ched is a handful,” acknowledged Wilson.

“He is a strong boy who has got great pace.

“He is difficult to push off the ball and is a good finisher.

“He was quite unfortunate as I thought he deserved a hat-trick. Hopefully we can keep him fit and he will keep coming up with the goods.”

Wilson said he brought off Stephen Quinn after 56 minutes because the left winger picked up a stomach knock.

Ryan Flynn came on and registered his first United goal but Quinn is expected to be fit for Saturday’s clash with Carlisle.

You're missing the point again SilverBlunt! - fair dues to you though I suppose - at least as a Blunt, you're 'showing your face' - thing is, whilst the Blunts would like to oh so conveniently brush this tawdry situation under the carpet - the fact remains there is an issue - and so whilst Evans continues to be reported on - then the articles are open to ridicule and innuendo.

“Ched is a handful,” acknowledged Wilson - “He is a strong boy who has got great pace - “He is difficult to push off the ball and is a good finisher. - Is Special Agent Wilson referring to Shed's forthcoming examination in Court?! - by the way - 'Plundered' - there's a great descriptive word!
