Sheffield United haven’t given up hope of gaining automatic promotion and even after drawing with Crawley Town on Saturday, there remains a belief among Blades that they can do it. Free-falling Peterborough provide the opposition at Bramall lane tonight, with United firm favourites to pick up all three points.

Sheffield United: Turner, Brayford, Basham, McEveley, Harris, Doyle, Coutts, Flynn, Murphy, McNulty, Done.

Peterborough United: Alnwick, Bostwick, Zakuani, Santos, Smith, Payne, Newell, Ntlhe, Taylor, James, Vassell.

Shaun Brisley’s only goal for Peterborough this term came against Sheffield United. The former Macclesfield defender met Jon Taylor’s corner to drag the hosts, then managed by Darren Ferguson, level during the closing stages of the first half. Aged 24, Brisley joined League One rivals Scunthorpe on loan soon after but has since return to London Road. He made his professional debut against Notts County in 2008 before netting twice against Accrington Stanley.

Sheffield United beat Peterborough at London Road earlier this term when Ben Davies scored with six minutes remaining. Shaun Brisley had earlier cancelled-out Jose Baxter’s opener. United also triumphed 2-0 at Bramall Lane towards the end of last season following a goalless draw in Cambridgeshire five months earlier. Tonight’s match will be only the 11th competitive meeting between these two sides with United winning seven of those contests.

Oliver Langford (West Midlands): Tonight’s match will be the second time Langford has taken charge of a fixture involving Sheffield United during the present campaign having overseen their 3-2 victory at Colchester United five months ago. Mark Howard and Jay McEveley were among the three cautions he issued that night.
