Loan deals in Blackpool’s hands

Have your say

SHEFFIELD United manager Danny Wilson has admitted that the final decision about the futures of on-loan duo Matt Phillips and Billy Clarke rests with their parent club, Blackpool.

Both are scheduled to spend the next three weeks at Bramall Lane after arriving on month-long deals before Sunday’s Steel City derby.

Phillips celebrated his full debut by scoring twice during Wednesday’s 4-2 victory over Preston North End while Clarke also impressed after being included in United’s starting 11.

Although Wilson has refused to rule out the possibility of prolonging their stay, he said: “It’s up to Blackpool and their manager, Ian Holloway, ultimately. Not us.

“They are Blackpool players and they will decide what happens. We’ll just have to wait and see what that is and go from there.”

United climbed to fifth in the League One table after beating Phil Brown’s side 4-2. Lee Williamson also scored a brace.

Leyton Orient, their opponents at Brisbane Road tomorrow, are 21st.
