Simon Lappin is keen to explore the possibility of remaining at Bramall Lane when his loan from Cardiff City expires next month.
The former Norwich defender joined Sheffield United on a 28-day contract ahead of last week’s League One fixture with Crawley Town and made his second appearance for the club against Hartlepool on Tuesday.
Lappin, who concedes United’s coaching staff will decide his immediate future, said: “It’s definitely an idea I would be open to. Right now, I’d be more than happy to stay because this is a massive football club that anyone would be proud to represent.
“I wasn’t named in the 25 man Premier League squad [by Cardiff] and so I can’t play for them until January at the earliest. Realistically speaking, I can’t see the situation there changing in the New Year either.
