SHEFFIELD United manager Danny Wilson has dismissed claims that Johannes Ertl and Andy Taylor are poised to make their comebacks from injury.
The duo, who are recuperating from serious knee problems, were spotted at Shirecliffe last week kicking a football with keeper Mihkel Aksalu, another absentee.
But Wilson said: “That’s all they were doing, kicking a ball about.
“They’re making progress but they’ve still got a lot of work to do.
“If anyone thinks that they’re going to be pushing for a start next week or so then they’re mistaken.
“That’s not the case at all. But it’s good to see them both moving in the right direction.”
Ertl has not started a game since March’s defeat at Portsmouth while Taylor missed the second-half of last season after being helped from the pitch during the opening stages of Boxing Day’s derby with Yorkshire rivals Hull City.
“I would think we are looking at before Christmas,” Wilson added.
“That’s providing everything goes according to plan.
“I’m not one for strict timescales. I don’t think they serve a purpose because situations like this can change very quickly.”
