Just the job says Will
WILL Hoskins has set his sights on firing Sheffield United towards promotion after completing a loan move to Bramall Lane.
Hoskins, who started his career with neighbours Rotherham, could make his United debut when Danny Wilson’s side visit Colchester this weekend.
Having described his temporary transfer from Brighton and Hove Albion as “a no-brainer,” the former England Under-20 international told The Star: “My aims are to score goals and get this club back into the Championship.
“When my agent said that United were interested in me then it really was a no-brainer. I just want to play football and the prospect of doing that for a club like Sheffield United meant it was something I was never going to turn down.
“Having started my career at Rotherham, I’m well aware of how big a club this is. Impressions like that stay with you throughout your career and I can’t wait to get going.”
United, who last night allowed winger Erik Tonne to join York City on loan until the summer, introduced Hoskins to his new team mates at Shirecliffe yesterday.
Albion signed the 25-year-old eight months ago after watching him score 20 goals in 44 league appearances for Bristol Rovers but a spate of niggling injuries have hampered his progress since.
Hoskins, who will spend the rest of the season with Wilson’s squad, said: “There are some quality strikers here so I can’t take my place for granted but that’s good. I know how highly the manager is thought of and you can tell there’s a really good atmosphere behind the scenes.”

Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 08:45 AMFrom a Brighton fans point of view can i point out that although Hoskins has only played 7 games in 9 months he is i think a very talented striker. Many fans in Brighton want Hoskins to do well at your club and come back next summer firing on all cylinders.I think he will be a bit hit for you and he will enjoy being back up north for a while.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 10:40 PMSorry, hit send by mistake: If we dont go up, Evans will leave for free Iin the Summer should we not go up when his contract runs down which is another factor why nobody showed the green. Evans will be found not guilty IMO. Ive heard she was willing to settle out of court but he told her to do one

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 09:42 PMUTO, Its simple economics. The amount the Blades would accept for Evans was more than what clubs were willing to risk due to his court date. Innocent until proven guilty on this island although i'd put money on MM being found guiltybahead of Evans any day of the week. If we dont go up, Ein this worlc itis Nobody came in with enough wonga for Evans due to

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 08:15 PM9 months at Brighton and only 7 matches...... Hmmm interesting... LOL. Obviously he's come cheap then! MancMuppet only reason no one has come in for Shed is because no one wants a r@pist in the midst, plus no one wants him if he goes down. I'm sure McSue has a plan in place to sack him should that be the case. WE ALL KNOW you can't afford that.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 06:49 PMwendy;s all seem gutted we have not lost any of our talented crop of players - infact as usual they seem more interested in what were up to rather than themselves. Mind you as they remind me of a modern day version of Wimbledon that's hardly surprising!! As mentioned many times this season THE best footballing teams are United, Charlton and MK Dons and not the kick and rush specialists from swillsboro! Mind you if they get promotion they will be happy enough In suppose.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 04:37 PMMany a good tune played on an old fiddle , Bob Hatton.Wayne Allison, Dean Windas to name but a few ageing forwards that where great at the lane .Any way Ched blows your statment as he is still in his early 20s.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 03:27 PMCouldn't agree more Geri at post 16. Thats the beauty of BlackwellWarnockMegson style footy, its so system orientated that no one individual makes that much difference. You could do with signing Monty, he'd be far more suitable than Marshall.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 03:05 PMAccording to Blades fans we were going to lose every match after losing Marshall, fact is we are unbeaten since he left, perhaps we're not a one man team after all.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 02:42 PMSuper news at Beautiful Down Town Bramall Lane. Will ''BOB'' Hoskins is a fantastic signing for the mighty Blades and a sign of our intentions. This alongside not losing anyone we wished to retain, could be the final piece to Danny ''DaBlade'' Wilson's puzzle. Forget cementing 2nd place and let's push on for 1st with the strongest squad in the division. P.s. Bye, bye, Ben Marshall!!!!

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 01:34 PM#10 - Agreed, Rhodes staying is a drag, he could hurt us and our aims. However, retaining Lowton was a huge bonus as well as the great unexpected signing of Hoskins. At least it's nice to come out of a JTW stronger rather than weaker for a change.

Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at 01:31 PMThe other factor is that in January Chamiponship teams usually go for players proven at that level. Pre-season is the time to speculate on a promising player making the step up.
