Stephen Arthurworrey’s second half goal condemned Sheffield United to defeat away at relegated Yeovil Town.
Steven Davies and Stefan Scougall returned to United’s starting eleven for this evening’s League One fixture.
Paul Coutts was also handed a recall, together with Matt Done, as manager Nigel Clough looked to utlise all the options at his disposal.
Craig Alcock, the former Yeovil defender, was among the vistitors’ substitutes.
But Davies’ recall lasted just 40 minutes as, after taking a whack early on, he was replaced by Jamie Murphy.
Kieron Freeman enjoyed a lot of the ball early on, and one shot went over the bar after he had cut inside and attacked the Yeovil defence.
United then suffered a further injury blow when Ryan Flynn, deputising at right back, had to be withdrawn with Alcock taking his place.
News of Chesterfield surging 5-0 ahead against Colchester caused worry against the 500-plus strong away following - and their mood worsened when Yeovil took the lead, with Arthurworrey credited with the goal.
United’s last throw of the dice came with their third change, Scougall replaced by Jose Baxter.
And Done almost restored parity soon after, from Murphy’s centre, but Yeovil somehow managed to clear their lines and held on to secure victory.
