Goals from Marc McNulty and John Brayford gave Sheffield United a vital 2-1 away victory at Rochdale tonight.
McNulty, who started in place of ex-Rochdale striker Matty Done, opened the scoring when he took advantage of an exquisite pass from fellow Scot Bob Harris.
McNulty was replaced by in-form former Spotland hero Done at half time and John Brayford doubled United’s lead after a goalkeeping mistake from Rochdale’s Josh Lillis.
Mnutes later, play had to be stopped to clear a smoke bomb on the field but Rochdale then pulled a goal back when Jack O’Connell headed in at the back post.
McNulty, Terry Kennedy and Ryan Flynn came into the side that drew with Coventry City last weekend.
Out went Done, Jamal Campbell-Ryce and the suspended Jose Baxter.
Former Blade Febian Brandy started for Dale while teenager Dominic Calvert-Lewin was on the bench for United.
Flynn was later withdrawn and replaced by Kieron Freeman
