Former Barcelona star keeps options open
GERARD Lopez has admitted he is considering a number of "options" after completing a trial at Sheffield United.
Clubs from the Major Soccer League are also believed to have shown interest in the ex-Barcelona midfielder who was recently invited to train with Kevin Blackwell's side.
Lopez has been without a professional club since departing Recreativo Huelva but has kept fit by turning out for his hometown club Granollers in the local Catalan leagues.
The 29-year-old, who progressed through the youth ranks at the Nou Camp, has also played for Valencia and Monaco during a career which saw him win La Liga in 2005.
A full Spain international, Lopez found himself at the heart of the drive to achieve official recognition for a Catalonia team when he represented the region against a Basque XI in 2006.
He said: "I have not yet decided what I am going to do, but this is an interesting proposition. England is an attractive country for football but I need to look at other options."
United's under 18s were playing at Huddersfield Town today.
Tickets for England under-21s' game against the Czech Republic at Bramall Lane on November 18 have gone on sale at 10 adults and 5 for U16s and OAPs. Call 08712 221889 or come to the ticket office.
