Even those who despised Danny will be happy now

TUESDAY night’s superb result was a perfect way to silence any recent negative comments against Sheffield United.

We all know the sort of people and managers that I am referring to.

It’s those that get on and do their job that succeed in the end, not the ones who constantly shout about it and feel they have to justify what they do.

The Blades are doing very nicely thank you very much.

I think even the most fervent anti-Danny Wilson supporters will be ever so slightly nodding their head in approval.

Huge respect for our manager in the way he has conducted himself and our campaign so far.

If all parties keep on learning with such dignity we are in for a real treat.

Alongside quite a few other United fans I do have an air of caution, almost not quite believing our football and continuing improvement in this promising promotion crusade. But isn’t that just what being a Blade is all about?

I judged the npower League fan of the year awards this week, all of which must remain confidential until the actual event itself in March.

I have to say though it really made me think about everything that I love about football and Sheffield United.

There were some incredible stories about the lengths fans have gone through to support their club, the community, youth and the supporters themselves across all divisions.

The dedication and passion is both admirable and completely infectious.

One fan had attended 2,000 consecutive games home and away for his team. Whilst another loyal supporter wouldn’t have Sainsbury’s carrier bags in the house as the colours were too close to her rival club.

Any Blades out there with quirky little rules like that?

I do wear a lot of red when I’m on Sky Sports News! I also have a United teddy called Deano, named after Brian Deane.

Of course I did my duty and dropped the Blades in conversation. I was asked about our boss and his past allegiances in relation to the upcoming Sheffield derby.

I said I personally don’t care; all I care about is what Wilson is doing for us, which is to be fair, his club too.

The Football League brought up the situation of a United v Wednesday play-off final, their perfect scenario.

League One would be taken to new lengths with that kind of derby play-off and so would the whole of Sheffield’s stress levels.

Before the stress levels rise again in the city, United stay put with a home game against Preston North End.

My good mate is a Lilywhite. I told him that we need the points more than his mid-table side so to not cause us any problems. I’m sure he’ll relay that back to North End!

The Lancashire side are without a win away in the last three and at home in the League the Blades have won their last six.

At home United have a win percentage of 73. That’s the best in the League.

As I just finish writing this it looks like Lee Clark has been sacked as manager of Huddersfield Town.

That can only be a good thing for us, too.

It is all looking very positive!

I dont think Wilson was ever as despised as Gerimo is by me! He used to come to my house to listen to the Wednesday games on the radio with my UTO1 until i caught him trying to take my UTO's clothers off. Hes barred from coming to my house now and can buy his own radio!

TAT.. time to move on, Although i admit i was disappointed when wilson got the job, it wasnt the wednesday factor for me, it was the fact i wanted a bigger name. Cannot fault wilson one bit, playing the best football we've played, if you listen to him he conducts hiself on the radio so well too. Time to move on and does whats best for the team, back WIlson at United.

Poor LRB. Please stick to football. Like all Europrats you speak Eurine out of Euranus. If you had twice as much sense you'd struggle to be a half wit. Anybody would think you are an Owl pig.

Cant accept him myself Charlie, He is ex weds, I ACCEPT he is doing a good job at present and I accept i am a stuburn supporter. But cat get the picture of him wearing the Owl uniform and his big grim when playing against us. I am not alone in my views although the tide is for sure turning in his favour, mybe next year will be the real test of his skills, this is a poor division, and as Birminghsm shwed in the cup, there is a massive gulf in the divisions.

Well said Alien!! How can you say that The Star is United biassed UKIP? Its so obviously run by Wendy fans!! And ditto for Radio Sheffield 'Wednesday' with Seth the 'Obvious Owl'. I admit, I was quite annoyed when KM gave Wilson the job, as I'm sure you Wendy fans would have been if a former United player or manager would have been appointed at Swillsborough. But he's doing a great job so far. Even if we we don't end up getting promotion at least he's got us playing a better brand of football rather than the garbage, all be it almost succesful, hoofball we've had to endure for the past 4 or 5 years....the type that you lot are now having to put up with at S6. Charlie mentions a Sheffield derby Play-Off Final. I've already had discussions with my Wendy mates about that. We all said none of us could cope with the stress of that. Imagine the horror of losing such a major event to your bitter rivals? If it does come to that thank god I'll be in Rhodes, watching from a taverna...getting drunk!!!

Talk about sour grapes hey.. We will be fine in the championship next season thank you very mutch, I think you ought to concentrate on how your side are going to cope with the likes of Exeter and Stevenage next season in the pub league...

Ukip, well on your theory, we'd both struggle in League two given we both failed to beat Bradford..... But I am sure you'll have some excuse as to why that doesn't count.... I also guess you might as well give up on promotion given the trouncing Blackpool gave you?? as for the biased Star, this is probably the only thing in the paper that is Blades, I'm sure they are already planning the "SAVE OUR OWLS" campaign for next year when Mandy leaves you in the lurch.

Clutching at straws there fella. One result in a cup game won't indicate what will happen throughout next season. Good to see you are accepting that the Blades will be playing in the championship next season though!

Are we going to see a column by a Wednesday supporter, otherwise this shows how biased the star is to the blunts. I am wondering where all the blunts are, who were shouting for Danny to be ousted. I think the loss against Birmingham shows you what will happen if United get promoted.
