Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough has reitterated that members of the club’s Redtooth Academy will be handed first team opportunities next season.
Connor Dimaio, Otis Khan and Louis Reed have all featured at League One level in recent months while Ben Whiteman was invited to train with the senior squad ahead of last week’s visit to Port Vale.
Clough revealed soon after taking charge at Bramall Lane in October that developing young talent would form one of the central pillars of his regime with home-grown talent, rather than the loan market, his first port of call during a short-term injury crisis.
But he warned that sentiment will not colour the judgement of United’s coaching staff when it comes to promoting from within.
