SHEFFIELD United manager Danny Wilson says his team have “the bit between their teeth” as the battle for League One promotion enters a critical phase.
Last weekend’s victory at Bournemouth not only lifted United to third in the table but stretched their winning streak to six consecutive games.
Wilson said: “The lads are in a good frame of mind and they’re confident at the moment.
“So that’s very good to see. But the important thing is to stay focused and not get all worked up by whatever happens because there is an awful long way to go yet.
“Absolutely othing gets decided now.
There are bound to be lots of twists and turns across the entire division between now and the end.”
Wilson, who has challenged striker James Beattie to force his way into the side over the holiday period, added: “What pleases me is the character the lads are showing and how they are working for each other so that must continue.
“They seem to have the bit between their teeth.”
Although several members of his squad have attempted to downplay the significance of the festive fixture programme, Wilson acknowledged it “can provide a springboard” for the remainder of the season.
