DANNY Wilson, the Sheffield United manager, says Oxford duo Chris Wilder and Alan Hodgkinson MBE deserve to receive “superb receptions” from Bramall Lane supporters when the two teams clash in FA Cup action tomorrow. fwefwfed
But Wilson admitted he hopes the former United players “get pelters” once the first round tie gets underway.
“I’m sure they’ll get superb receptions and they certainly deserve them,” Wilson said. “But I hope they’re not enjoying themselves when the game starts and they won’t mind me saying that.”
Wilder, Wilson’s opposite number at The Kassam Stadium, made over 100 appearances during two spells at United.
Goalkeeping coach Hodgkinson, who won five England caps, boasts nearly 700 on his CV.
Wilson said: “I know Chris and he’s done brilliantly at Oxford. Hodgy too is an absolute legend here and quite rightly so.
“They both know a lot of people behind the scenes and they’re both held in very high regard.
“I’m sure they’ll both be very proud when they walk out of the tunnel.
“But when the action starts, they’ll be doing everything they can to try and beat us and we’ll be doing exactly the same to them.”
