SHEFFIELD United manager Danny Wilson has told his players they will enjoy a clean slate when the club reports back for duty this week.

Relations between coaching staff and some first team squad members became strained towards the end of last season with several, most notably Mark Yeates and Jamie Ward, crossing swords with Wilson’s predecessor Micky Adams. But the former Northern Ireland international, who replaced Adams, told The Star: “Everyone will be given a chance to show what they can do. In that sense we’ll be starting afresh. I want players to be honest with me and, in return, I’ll be honest and up-front with them.

“We’ll find-out who wants to stay, who wants to go and what they can bring to the table. What may have happened before doesn’t concern me.”

Wilson added: “Of course, some may have laid down a marker last season - it would be foolish to ignore that. But places are up for grabs.”
