An excellent week for Sheffield United saw them move into the League One play-off places for the first time this season after a brace of 2-0 defeats over Bradford and Yeovil respectively.

Nigel Clough’s side are coming good after a shaky start to the new campaign but are back on track, were cut to 7/1 (from 10s) for the title and 7/4 (from 9/4) to be playing Championship football next season.

The Blades can extend their excellent run of form when travelling to the Alexandra Stadium at the weekend; United the even money favourites with BetVictor, Crewe 3/1 and the draw 13/5.

The home side have the worst defence in the league so expect the visitors to tuck in, with the half time/full time double result appealing at the price of 21/10 and the 2-0 correct score excellent value at 10/1 to land for a third consecutive Blades’ game on the spin.

That should set up United’s last-16 clash in the Capital One Cup at the MK Dons, the home side 13/10 favourites with BetVictor, the Blades 2/1 and the draw 5/2 but remain 80/1 outsiders to be lifting silverware at Wembley in the spring.

Their main aim will lay with promotion however, and despite throwing away a lead to draw 2-2 at home to Bradford top of the table Bristol City undoubtedly remain in pole position; yet to be beaten in League One this season and the 11/8 favourites for the Title.

Barnsley host the Champions-elect on Saturday with the Tykes themselves in a similar position to the Robins after throwing away a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Notts County at Oakwell on Tuesday. BetVictor make City the 5/4 favourites, the Tykes 11/5 and the draw 12/5 with both sides expected to put on a show at Oakwell with the ‘both teams to score bet’ likely to collect for punters at 8/13 and the 2-2 draw appealing further at 14/1.

Sruggling Doncaster Rovers are now just a single point above the League One relegation zone after their midweek defeat to Leyton Orient and are looking to end a run of four straight league defeats when they host promotion-chasing MK Dons on Saturday. The visitors are 6/4 favourites with BetVictor, Rovers 15/8 and the draw 12/5.
