Nigel Adkins says Sheffield United will continue in a positive manner when they travel to Port Vale this weekend.

The Blades boss made the statement of intent immediately after Tuesday evening’s goalless draw at league leaders Burton Albion, which saw them remain five points and five places behind the Brewers.

Port Vale, who have won three and lost three of their ten games so far, represent a different challenge for United this weekend - but Adkins insists he won’t change his approach.

“We’re looking forward to it,” the Blades boss said.

“It’s another good game. But they’re all good games at this level, aren’t they?

“We go away from home and, once again, we’ll strive to bring back the three points, as we always endeavour to do. That’s what we did at Burton.

“The game got a little stretched in the last ten minutes and could have gone either way, but a draw was probably a fair reflection.

“We’ll take a clean sheet, that’s important, but on another day we could probably have won it.”

Che Adams, who was dropped for the trip to Burton’s Pirelli Stadium after a weekend disciplinary issue, will be available for selection at Vale Park after playing for United’s U21s in a friendly at Wolves yesterday.

“It won’t linger,” Adkins said. “It’s been dealt with, and we move on.”
