SHEFFIELD FC staged another fightback coming from 3-1 down to beat Harrogate Railway 5-3 at Dronfield last night in the Doodson Sport League Cup preliminary round
Rob Youhill gave the visitors an early lead against the run of play. Club hit back to equalise through Andy Gascoigne after a great ball from Jobe Shaw. Harrogate had the ball in the net again just before the interval but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Jon Maloney headed the visitors back in front after the break before Liam Hardy made it 3-1 midway through the second half after outpacing the Sheffield defence.
But Warren Burrell’s excellent finish started the recovery, Steve Woolley pounced twice in the last 10 minutes before Shaq McKenzie put the result beyond doubt with the fifth in the final minute.
In the Baris NCEL league cup second round, Parkgate eased to a 5-1 win over Division One strugglers Appleby Frodingham at Green Lane.
Martyn Lee gave them a fourth minute lead only for Josh Fawcett to equalise five minutes later. Sam Smith restored the home side’s lead with Adam Shepherd making it 3-1. Craig Fletcher hit the fourth and fifth in the last 15 minutes.
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic went out 3-0 at home against Louth Town but Armthorpe Welfare went through 3-1 at Grimsby Borough after scoring twice in stoppage time.
