There is the mouth-watering prospect of a Steel City derby in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after the draw was made earlier today.
Sheffield United came from behind to beat Nottingham Forest at Bramall Lane and will now welcome rivals Sheffield Wednesday, if the Owls win their tie with Charlton Athletic – which was called off on Saturday because of a waterlogged pitch at Hillsborough – for a place in the last four and a trip to Wembley.
The last time United and Wednesday met in the FA Cup was in the semi final in 1993 with the Owls winning 2-1 at Wembley before going on to lose to Arsenal in the decider.
Elsewhere in the competition, Arsenal will be at home to Everton, Sunderland travel to Brighton or Hull who play on Monday night and Manchester City will seek revenge for last season’s final defeat as they welcome Wigan to the Etihad Stadium.
Ties will be played on March 8 and 9
Arsenal v Everton
Brighton or Hull v Sunderland
Sheffield United v Sheffield Wednesday or Charlton
Manchester City v Wigan
