Sam Morsy believes Chesterfield have shown they have got what it takes to challenge for promotion this season.
The midfielder, who joined the club in the summer, has featured in all three games so far and is relishing life with the Spireites.
He was an integral part of the Port Vale side that secured a top three finish in League Two last campaign, making 32 appearances for Micky Adams’ men which prompted Paul Cook to bring the 21-year-old to Chesterfield.
And Morsy said there are similarities between that Vale side and the current crop of talent on show at the Proact Stadium.
He said: “The quality we have got at this club really is fantastic. What we had at Port Vale was application and team spirit.
“I think we’ve got a similar team spirit at Chesterfield and with the added quality we’ve got a great chance.
“The confidence Paul (Cook) puts in all his players is unbelievable, nothing I’ve seen before.
“He gets the best out of everyone and it’s showing on the pitch.”
