The sick patient of League Two needs a miracle cure

LOAN star Rhys Taylor is demanding Rotherham United develop a ruthless streak in front of goal to revive their promotion hopes.

The Welsh goalkeeper feels the Millers have to stop being over elaborate in the final third to compete in the upper echelons of League Two.

Taylor, on a one-month loan from Chelsea, told The Star: “I think we always try and play that extra pass when we get ourselves in decent positions around the box instead of shooting.

“When other teams get 20 to 25 yards out, they are looking to shoot at the earliest opportunity.

“I think we are almost trying to pass it into the net and we are making things too complicated. We need to test the goalkeepers more which we don’t do often enough.

“We have played teams off the pitch but not scored so we need to make our chances count. I think that’s the only thing missing from our game at the moment. If you don’t shoot, you don’t score.

“You can play all the nice football you want but if you’re not winning it is not good enough.”

Rotherham were booed off at the final whistle by their own supporters following their loss to Port Vale.

Taylor said: “The booing doesn’t help. That just makes the players more cautious when they have got the ball. When the jeers come from the crowd, that’s when players don’t want to make mistakes and get on the ball. They don’t want to get hammered by the crowd. It is vitally important the fans get behind us and stick with the team.”

People only boo when they feel they are being short changed by what they are watching. I pay a lot of money to follow the team around the Country and we are not getting value for that. We have had to put up with the longest period of our History in the bottom division, and it doesn't look like changing anytime soon. The performances are dire, and its poor fare. I will continue to boo when i feel it is warranted, as i have at Bristol and Saturday. We pay our money and we are entitled to our opinion. Grow some balls and turn this failing team around. Scott out!!
