Scott declares his joy at players getting rewards

rotherham United manager Andy Scott says he is pleased for the players that they have been rewarded for their hard work by getting back in the League Two Play-Off picture.
Wins over Southend, now League Two leaders, and Accrington Stanley, have got a critical little spell for the Millers off to a good start and put them back into Play-Off contention.
Tuesday’s win saw them jump four places to eighth, three points behind Chris Wilder’s Oxford United. However, they are 11 points off sixth-placed Shrewsbury.
“I’m loving seeing the players get reward because they work so hard Monday to Friday, they are honest players and they need to show that on matchdays so the fans can see it,” said Scott.
“Has the penny dropped? Well, we’ve thought that on some previous occasions but I think the gap is wider now than it was and we’re pushing the penny through. The basis is hard work and organisation - we said that at the start of the season - but it’s now coming to fruition where people are believing that the first thing you do before you show talent and ability on the ball is to be organised and work hard for each other. Actually, it’s quite enjoyable.
“So, I’m pleased for the players getting rewards. It has been hard for them. I’ll take the flak. I’m not interested in getting stick or whatever. That happens, but then I’m under pressure every day.
“I’ve brought the players in and sometimes you feel for them. So. I’m happy for them.”
But he insisted this is only the start of what they hope will be something better.
“The chocks have been taken away, the wheels are in motion and we’re rolling, ” he chuckled. “Perhaps we’ll take the handbrake off next.
“I’m pleased for the chairman and the fans, I think it shows that we are progressing.”
Next up for the Millers is a trip to Burton Albion, former club of loan signing Shaun Harrad, whose penalty winner in midweek made it two goals in two starts since arriving from Bury.
