Robins plans to spoil mate's promotion bid

MARK Robins has paid tribute to the "good mate" whose automatic promotion ambitions he will be aiming to kill off on Saturday.

The Rotherham United boss is a former teammate of Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale, the pair having played together for Greek club Panionios some 10 years ago.

Tisdale now brings his side to the Don Valley Stadium knowing that a win will guarantees them a second successive promotion and anything less may well see them pipped by Alan Knill's Bury.

"Paul is a good mate of mine, we played together in Greece for a season, and he has done really well with Exeter," said Robins. "We've kept in touch.

"I'm pleased for him and he has done it playing good football and added wisely to his squad. But I'll be going all out to spoil his party, no-one would expect it to be any other way."

Robins reported no fresh injury worries. There had been hopes among Millers fans that Stephen Brogan might get an appearance from the subs' bench after his 14 months out with a broken leg but with so much hinging on the game, there would be no prospect of the sort of steady re-introduction likely if it was the final game with nothing at stake.

Exeter, promoted last season from the Blue Square Premier, will have over 2,000 supporters travelling up for the game. Tisdale told his local paper: "We have got a good chance. There is a lot to play for.

"We are still in the enviable position of having only ourselves to rely on and we know we have to win the game.

"After this long, arduous season we are left with a must-win game and it is in our own hands. We know what we have got to do."
