Millers striker Garcia wants to set up his Omar in England
THE banter of the football dressing-room is becoming a little easier to understand for Rotherham United's Spanish striker, Omar Garcia.
He has swapped sunny Spain for South Yorkshire as he looks to fulfill an ambition of living in England and he is aiming to forge a career with the Millers who he joined this season.
Now, his grasp of the English language is improving with the help of Doncaster College where the 25-year-old has enrolled on an ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) course.
He lives in Doncaster which makes it handy for his language lessons and also for training as the Millers use the Keepmoat Stadium as their training base after losing their training ground when leaving Millmoor last summer.
"I really like it in Doncaster, the people are friendly and my English teacher, Heather, is great," says Omar. "I have just got into the first team and I feel very at home here.
"I attend lessons at the College twice a week for a couple hours each time and my English is improving.
"Ever since I was young I wanted to come and live in England. I love London but it's very busy there so I like to go once a month and see the sights.
"Everyone says it's really cold here but it's not so bad."
Before joining Rotherham, Omar was with Spanish clubs Athelic Bilbao, Logrones, Alfaro and Zamudio.
