Law breaks through in Millers deal

Former Rotherham United player Nicky Law is delighted that his son has joined the Millers and expects him to add something different to Mark Robins' squad.

Nicky Junior joined the Millers on a two-year-contract from Sheffield United and his dad believes that he will bring another dimension to Mark Robins' side.

"I haven't seen much of Rotherham, but I think Mark (Robins) wanted a different type of player," he said.

"He can create something; he sees a pass, but he can also stand his corner. He chips in with goals and he is very good at travelling with the ball," said Nicky senior.

Law the younger had been out on loan at Bradford City last season, where he scored a goal against the Millers and Law senior is delighted his son has found a permanent home as well as regular first-team football adding: "It's a good move for him."

"It was a tough decision, but it's purely football. He was impressed with the plans for the new training ground and stadium and with the club moving forward."

Whilst at Rotherham, the father made well over a hundred appearances between 1990-93 after joining from Notts County. He later moved into management with Chesterfield and went on to manage Bradford City and Grimsby Town.

Despite Law's links with the club, he says he played no role in the move: "I don't interfere too much. I know that he has gone for the right reasons and from my time there I know Rotherham is a good club."

Law is now at Alfreton Town where his other son Josh is on the books.

Midfielder Mark Hudson has failed to agree a new contract and with the Millers seeking promotion next season, Law is a firm believer that his son can play at a higher level.
