Millers boss Steve Evans says the club’s intention will be to spend on players whether they go up or not - and he doesn’t fear losing star players if they don’t go up.
“Our task over the next week is getting to Wembley and I believe if we do get there then we will go to The Championship,” said Evans.
“We’ll spend if we don’t go up and will spend more if we do and, of course, we would have to be significantly stronger although a lot of these players would be going with us.”
Evans more or less dismissed questions about the future of some of the leading players if the club remains in League One - players like 25-goal top scorer Kieran Agard and Ben Pringle, who was in the PFA League One Team of the Year.
“There’s no problem over keeping our players. They all know the ambition at this club, with a great chairman, and what we will keep striving for. And if we did get up, then we won’t be straight back down either.”
