A hat-trick against the Millers shows I can play

NEW signing Shaun Harrad chuckles as he recalls his last hat-trick.
“I hope the Rotherham United fans remember it and it gives them an indication of what I am capable of,” he says.
Harrad, who has arrived on loan with the Millers from Bury, netted that hat-trick back in September 2010 for Burton Albion at Don Valley and his performance that day certainly made a mark on Millers followers.
“It was the last one I got and I’ve still got the ball. I don’t know what Rotherham fans thought at the time but I hope I left a good impression and I will be giving my all because that’s how I play,” he added. “I work hard, give 100 per cent and I’m looking forward to getting some goals.”
Rotherham were previously interested in the 27-year-old when Ronnie Moore was manager but he went to Northampton instead.
After his successful years at Burton, it didn’t work out well for him at Northampton and earlier this season Bury manager Richie Barker (the former Millers striker) moved in for him after they sold Ryan Lowe to Sheffield Wednesday. “I’ve not been in the side recently and I’m not someone happy to sit in the stand and pick up my money, I want to play and Richie Barker said this was a good opportunity for me,” added Harrad.
“I jumped at it. I’ve been unsettled in the last year and not played as much as I’d like and, when you’re not playing, you soon become a forgotten man. I want to help Rotherham up the table, towards the play-offs. I hope I can do that with a few goals. My record speaks for itself.”
His loan is for a month initially with Bury boss Barker saying he should get some games in and take it from there.
His first opportunity could come at Southend tonight but that will depend on the weather.
The Essex club have had the pitch covered all week and swept a couple of inches of snow off half the covers on Wednesday, asking volunteers to clear the rest. They say the pitch seems ok but further frost and snow is forecast.
Rotherham intend setting off early today. “We have prepared all week as if the game will go ahead,” said Millers boss Andy Scott. “If we set off, get halfway there or all the way and it’s called off then that’s what happens and we’ll simply turn round and come back.”
