It’s amazing what a difference the absence of one player can have on a team.
Anyone who says Rotherham United didn’t miss Lee Frecklington in their two games last week must have had a blindfold on.
That’s not to say the results at Sheffield United and in the Friday night goalless home draw with Bradford City would have been different had he been in the team. But his presence would certainly have made them potentially more potent and, dare I say it, better.
Up to missing the game at Bramall Lane, Frecklington - recognised now as Rotherham’s record signing at, it appears, £160,000 - had missed just three games.
His absence against the Blades and the Bantams changed the whole dynamic of the midfield. No one else can do what he does, in the way he does it, with such an effect.
