STOCKSBRIDGE Park Steels expect to parade their latest signing when they play Rotherham United at the Look Local Stadium tonight (7.45).

The player’s identity - he plays in midfield - has been kept a closely-guarded secret with manager Gary Marrow not wanting to reveal either of his two latest targets until they have actually signed.

Indeed, they could well have two newcomers on show as Marrow has also identified an experienced central defender, in addition to the midfield player. He wants both to further strengthen his squad.

“Until they actually sign, I don’t want to say who they are so as not to alert other clubs,” said Marrow. “Both will be great acquisitions for us.”

Set to figure are two more recent signings, defender Chris Glarvey from Grantham and former Eastwood Town winger Chris Adam who has previously played for Worksop and Frickley Athletic.

Rotherham have had their first team squad away in Portugal for six days, arriving back yesterday.

With the first team playing Scunthorpe United at Don Valley Stadium on Wednesday, it is likely to be a Millers side that is a mixture of youth and experience.

Stocksbridge - whose opening league game in the Evo-Stik Premier Division is at Marine on August 13 - beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-0 last week. Wednesday included three squad players and two trialists.

They entertain Sheffield United next Tuesday (7.45).

Also in action tonight are Sheffield FC at home to Darlington, AFC Emley against Frickley and Askern Villa against Ossett Albion.
