ROTHERHAM United boss Andy Scott has revealed he is closing in on two Championship players.
Scott, who has already made two summer signings in Ben Pringle and Gareth Evans, hopes to complete the double swoop when the duo return from holiday.
He said: ”I’ve agreed deals with two more players. They are both on holiday at the moment so they won’t be signing until they get back but I’m delighted with both signings. Both play for Championship clubs and both are on free transfers, so its good business from our point of view.
“Both are young players and have the opportunity to improve under us, but also bring in some good quality that we’ve been lacking.
“One’s a centre forward and the others a centre half who can play at full back.”
Although a deal has yet to be officially confirmed, midfielder Jason Taylor is expected to put pen-to-paper on a new one-year contract shortly, as Scott continues to rebuild his Millers squad.
Of Taylor’s attributes, Scott said: “He`s a good player to have around the place. He`s great to have around the changing rooms and is a natural leader and a good lad.
“Jason’s a versatile player who is capable of playing at a good standard.”
Another area Scott is looking to freshen up his backroom staff, having let Andy Liddell depart this week. Scott, who is resigned to losing influential pair Ryan Taylor and Nicky Law, thanked Liddell for his contribution. It was the former Wigan and Barnsley striker who was put in temporary charge of first team affairs following the departure of Ronnie Moore two months ago.
Liddell originally joined the Millers as a player in 2009.
