STEVE Evans says that had he been at Rotherham United a few weeks earlier, then they would have made the Play-offs.
The 2-2 draw at Aldershot finally confirmed the Millers would be in League Two again next season.
“From what I know and what I’ve seen, Rotherham United should have been in the play-offs - without a shadow of a doubt - and if I’d been here three weeks earlier, we would have been,” said Evans.
“People may ridicule me for that and say ‘how do you know?’ but you’ve only to look at the way we’ve played in the three games I’ve been here.
“Dean Holdsworth (Aldershot manager) is an honest guy and said if I’d been here a while longer then we’d have had a fighting chance.
“The objective next season will be promotion and we’ll all be working towards that goal.”
Evans will be meeting the Millers supporters at a Fans Forum on Thursday at the Carlton Park Hotel (7.30).
The final game is at home to Northampton and the highest Rotherham can finish is eighth and the lowest is eleventh. They are currently 10th.
