ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans insisted his team shouldn’t be written off in their FA Cup replay at Notts County and said they can play better.

“We’ll go there and do our best,” he said. “I’ve seen my teams written off before and then surprise people.

“I don’t think we should be written off and do I think we can play better? Yes, I do.

“But, having said that, I thought we played some excellent stuff and contributed towards a splendid cup tie.”

Evans felt his side gave County a little bit too much respect early on and acknowledged they could have been more than one down.

But he added: “We can put this to one side now and look forward to freshening up and welcoming the league leaders (Gillingham) to the New York Stadium on Saturday.”
