THERE are two days to go before the iconic stadium that is bringing hope and inspiration to the town of Rotherham stages its first game.
Chairman Tony Stewart, pictured, the man responsible for Rotherham United’s £20 million New York Stadium, says excitement among the club’s fans and across the town has been building rapidly this week.
“Look at the transformation of this football club from four years ago when it was in ashes,” he said. “In striving to meet all our aspirations. We have shown what can be achieved with drive, passion and determination.”
“And it’s even better than I thought it would be,” added the man who has driven the project with relentless passion and desire since the club left nearby Millmoor in 2008.
Barnsley are visitors for the first game on Saturday.
