Steve Evans, the Rotherham United manager, has outlined the attributes new signing Nouha Dicko will bring to the League One club’s attack.
The 21-year-old forward has joined the Millers on a short-term loan deal from Wigan Athletic and will go straight into their squad for Saturday’s meeting with Carlisle United. Dicko is set to stay at the New York Stadium until January.
Evans, who has twice previously tried to sign the Frenchman, said: “He has the type of electric pace that will frighten defenders at any level of the game. He has got an eye for a goal and is an exciting talent.”
Dicko, who has made four first-team appearances this season but has not featured in a league fixture, has previously had loan spells with Blackpool and Wolves.
‘Dicky’ for me and for others I respect in the game is a striker, but he is also very effective playing in a wide role on either side of the pitch,” he said. “He has got that versatility, which is very important to us. Every manager wants that.
“I first tried to sign the lad last season but the Wigan manager at the time, Roberto Martinez, wanted to keep him involved with his first-team. On the second occasion I approached Owen Coyle back in July but again my attempts to sign him were rebuffed. He is very highly regarded at Wigan.”
Evans hopes to bring in further reinforcements before the weekend, claiming that they have tabled offers for two other players.
