Boss Steve Evans is ready to jettison four of the experienced players he brought to the club last Summer.

Ian Sharps - brought back for a second spell - Nicky Hunt, Kayode Odejayi and Lionel Ainsworth have all been told they are free to leave.

Sharps spent the second half of the season on loan at Burton whilst Hunt was at Accrington from January.

Ainsworth had a loan spell at Aldershot and although Odejayi stayed, he could not get in ahead of Alex Revell in the second half of the season.

Evans - back from the club trip to Las Vegas - said they were decisions he described as “difficult” but ones he felt he had to make. All have a year left on their contracts.

Andy Warrington and Dale Tonge have previously been released whilst Danny Schofield remains available not having kicked a ball for the club last season.

Meanwhile, Evans looks to be favourite for the League Two Manager of the Month award for April. He is on the shortlist with York’s Nigel Worthington and Bradford’s Phil Parkinson but with a better record than both, the Millers taking 15 points in all.

The Millers entertain Barnsley on Sat, July 27, a week before the first game.
