Rotherham United have today signed defender James Tavernier on an emergency loan deal from Newcastle United until January.
Tavernier, who has made nine senior appearances for the Magpies, is primarily a full-back but can also fill in at centre-back. He provides cover for the injured Mark Bradley and is set to go straight into the Millers squad for their home clash with Gillingham this weekend.
Steve Evans, the Rotherham manager, said: “James is a very accomplished full-back, who can play on either side of the pitch. With the injury to Mark Bradley, and Rob Milsom who covers us at left-back also having a minor injury issue, this an excellent signing for us.”
