ROTHERHAM United have confirmed the permanent signing of Lee Frecklington from Peterborough after talks on a two-and-a-half year deal were concluded yesterday.

They are also understood to have lined up Peterborough wide player Dan Kearns who has just finished a 12 game loan spell at York City.

The fee for Frecklington, whose loan spell ended on Tuesday after 16 games and four goals, will not be disclosed but is said to be a “substantial” six figure sum but may not, after all, top the club record of £150,000.

Manager Steve Evans said he would also bring in a wide player on loan and 21-year-old Belfast-born Kearns is believed to be the target.

The plan to return David Noble and Lionel Ainsworth to action after a lengthy lay-off was dashed yesterday when the reserve team game at Tranmere was postponed.

The game at Torquay has been rearranged for Tuesday, February 12. It was to be this Saturday but Rotherham are at Aldershot in the FA Cup.
