Newly promoted Rotherham United have released seven players as they begin planning for the Championship.
Midfielder Michael O’Connor, defender Claude Davis and goalkeeper Scott Shearer are the major names, all of them having figured prominently at one time or another during this season’s promotion campaign.
The others include David Noble, Kayode Odejayi and Lionel Ainsworth who have all been out on loan most of the season with the remaining player released being Danny Schofield who has not played a first team game in the past two seasons.
Two others who have been told they can leave are winger David Worrall and striker Danny Hylton, both signed last summer but who have also been out on loan in the second half of this season.
Terms have been offered to Kari Arnason, Wes Thomas and Mark Bradley who missed the final couple of months after cruciate knee ligament surgery.
