Millers keeper Scott Loach has joined League Two side Bury on an emergency loan until January.
The 26-year-old has joined the Shakers in a bid for first team football after starting just four games since his summer arrival at the New York Stadium.
Loach has found himself the understudy to Adam Collin and was on the bench for the Millers at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
Rotherham boss Steve Evans told the club’s website: “It has always been my policy to allow experienced first team players to go out on loan and get first team competitive matches, which in turn gives him every opportunity to come back to the Millers and fight for the shirt whilst fully prepared to do so.”
Loach joined the Millers on a free from Ipswich in the summer having spent two years at Portman Road.
Tony Thompson is likely to take Loach’s place among the substitutes having returned from a loan spell with Vanarama Conference South side Chelmsford City.
The 20-year-old made five appearances for Chelmsford.
