Lee Frecklington’s late strike stretched Rotherham United’s unbeaten league run to eight matches tonight as they drew 3-3 at promotion rivals Preston North End.

The Millers, who named an unchanged starting line-up, went ahead in the seventh minute through Frecklington as he fired home after good play by James Tavernier.

The visitors doubled their lead four minutes later when Tom Clarke headed into his own net after a superb free-kick by Ben Pringle.

Striker Alex Revell, passed fit to play despite needing stitches in a cut eye suffered at Carlisle United last weekend, headed straight at Declan Rudd following another flowing move by the Millers.

Kieran Agard, the Millers top-scorer, was inches away from touching in the third after a poor header by Bailey Wright.

Rudd then easily gathered a weak shot by Wes Thomas as Rotherham continued to pepper Preston’s goal.

However, the Lilywhites reduced the deficit in the 37th minute as Craig Davies latched on to Paul Gallagher’s clever back heel and poked a shot past Adam Collin.

The goal lifted Preston and Neil Kilkenny dragged an effort wide after meeting Scott Laird’s deflected cross.

Keith Keane tried his luck from just outside the penalty area two minutes after the re-start but he screwed his drive off target.

On the hour mark, Preston levelled things up thanks to a stunning strike by Paul Gallagher. The Scotland international curled in an unstoppable left foot effort following a neat turn on the edge of the area.

Simon Grayson’s men completed a stunning turnaround in the 65th minute when Joe Garner rose highest to nod in Chris Humphrey’s delivery.

It took an inch perfect last ditch challenge from Frecklington to prevent Garner from pulling the trigger with 14 minutes remaining.

Rotherham huffed and puffed and substitute Nicky Adams volleyed narrowly over after Revell flicked on Joe Skarz’s diagonal ball.

But the Millers kept piling on the pressure and Frecklington drilled in a fierce shot after Preston failed to deal with Collin’s punt upfield.

The result keeps Rotherham in fifth position.
