ONE lucky Rotherham United follower will become a member of the Millers squad next season - at least by number!
As part of the testimonial year for Millers legend Paul Warne, the winner of a draw will have a squad number for the 2013/14 season. an appearance on the team photograph and a place in the squad list which appears in the programme for every match.
In addition the winner will get a signed facsimile of a Rotherham United playing contract.
Tickets for the draw are on sale at various outlets, along with Warne’s testimonial brochure.
The former striker, now a part of the backroom coaching staff, was awarded a testimonial last year for 2013 after completing 10 years with the Millers in two spells, having initially arrived at the club from Wigan in January, 1999.
An immensely popular figure with the fans, he played in the promotion-winning sides of 2000 and 2001, and his final appearance was last May in the final game at the Don Valley Stadium.
There are many events lined up by his testimonial committee, including two games on his match night, Tuesday, April 30, one of them involving Paul’s former playing colleagues and friends from the promotion sides at the start of the last decade.
Among the numerous events lined up are a golf day and a dinner at which former manager Ronnie Moore and assistant John Breckin will be the guest speakers. The dinner is scheduled for Saturday, March 23 after the Exeter home game.
He has also arranged evenings - at which past and present players will attend - at six pubs across the Rotherham area, with dates to be finalised, as well as a comedy evening.
