ROTHERHAM United manager Steve Evans admitted that relief was his main emotion when his side claimed three vital points with a single goal victory over AFC Wimbledon yesterday.
“I was just so relieved when that goal went in and then when it meant we’d won the game,” said Evans.
“We’d dominated so much that had it been a boxing match then they’d have stopped it. I said at half-time that if we kept playing like that, passing it like we did, then I’d have no complaints if it didn’t bring any reward.
“We’ve seen us dominate before and not get what we deserve. And if anyone deserved a goal then it was Alex Revell because he puts in so much work,” added Evans whose side go to leaders Gillingham on Monday.
He gave a debut at left back to Joe Skarz, signed on Thursday from Bury on loan, but with an agreement to sign a two-year deal in the summer.
Evans added: “I’m delighted with the clean sheet.”
