SHAUN Harrad marked his debut with a goal as Rotherham United defeated promotion-chasing Southend United 2-0 at Roots Hall last night.
The striker, signed on a one-month emergency loan from Bury earlier this week, broke the deadlock after nine minutes with a superb finish inside the box. His striker partner, Alex Revell, made the points safe seven minutes from time as the Millers halted a run of three successive defeats and moved to within three points of the League Two play-off places.
Harrad, aged 27, was one of two alterations made to the Rotherham side who slumped to a 3-2 defeat at Dagenham and Redbridge last time out. Harrad replaced top-scorer Lewis Grabban, who dropped to the substitutes bench, while centre-half Johnny Mullins stepped in for the suspended Michael Raynes.
One hundred and twenty three Rotherham supporters made the long trek to Southend, who thumped the Millers 4-0 in mid-September at the Don Valley Stadium and are in third position in the table, just two points off leaders
