Reading manager Brian McDermott believes Adam Le Fondre, his new signing from Rotherham United, will help them find a cutting edge after their 1-0 defeat to Hull left them in 20th position in the Championship.
The defeat marked Reading’s fourth consecutive loss in the league and cup by a single goal. “We needed to bring in someone with a predatory instinct,” the Reading boss said. “Le Fondre had his medical on Friday night and the deal is done but we didn’t consider him for the Hull game.” McDermott felt his side deserved a point in a game of few chances. “It was fading towards being a nil-nil game before the goal. We looked fine at one end but we need to do more at the other end.
“We need to be more ruthless and tougher.”
